Order Of Merit Challenge 2016 - Rules Etc

The comp will run through 147 races and will be scored as follows:

Grade 1
Winners = 25pts
Places = 15pts

Grade 2
Winners = 20pts
Places = 10pts

Grade 3
Winners = 15pts
Places = 5pts

N/R's will be replaced by SP Fav with Jt Favs as per Tote Rules.

Bonus points will be issued via SPs(Rounded up to nearest whole number)

Winners attract 5 x SP points.
2nd's attract 3 x SP points.
3rd's/4th's attract 1 x SP points.

Each member gets a maximum of 20 Jokers (Settled on the SP Fav) throughout the competition when unable or forgetting to post.

Throughout the races each member(Except Philcanary) entering is required to place a £1 E/W or £2 Win bet on any 25 selections of your choice(From your 146 entries during the comp). You can do these whenever you want but the bet is to be put up alongside your selection for the corresponding race with any price you may have taken etc.

Any winnings from your bets throughout the competition are to be forwarded to the pot which will be held by myself as per usual including the stake return. This way everyone donates the same amount to enter but no pain is felt as can be spread over the 146 races or you may choose to use all your bets at Ascot or even the 1st 25 races to get it over with. My thinking is we can all afford a £2 bet every Saturday or something so this shouldn't be too much to ask.

There will also be 4 Mini Competitions held amongst these races(Philcanary Putting Up £20 For The Winner Of Each Of These);

1. Royal Ascot
2. Glorious Goodwood
3. Ebor/St Leger
4. Champions

The Leaderboard will show how many bets have been placed so we know where we are.

I will endeavor to ensure the race threads are up 48 hours prior to each race to assist in bet placing etc and will send out reminder PM's too.

I will add a thread ASAP showing the races and their dates etc to assist you all in knowing when you will be required to post etc.

Phil, i'd join this to support the site but i feel it's too long and drawn out over 145 races including some midweek, some on a weekend and i can't guarantee i will always have time to post.
Bearing in mind non runners go on to the SP Fav, would it be possible to introduce a no post gets the SP Fav rule?

OK Frank I understand where youre coming from. As long as you get your 25 bets in over the 145 races I will add that rule

However members must only miss so many races (A bit like with the GG Comp) otherwise it wouldn't be fair or encourage anyone to try and post.

20 seems a fair number to me

i'm in bud.. goes without saying.. and i'm liking the format.. i'll be honest with you phil.. i wasn't struck on the Chelters format/rules.. it was my fault as i didn't read the rules.. BUT the scoring system i wasn't keen on.. a 1/4 joker scoring 200 points BUT a 4/1 winner scoring 100 points.. on reflection i know you thought perhaps it wasn't the best method of scoring.. but as the old saying goes.. it was the same rules for EVERYONE so no real complaints.. i just failed to play the game.. hope it returns to the old format next year.. the SP and points for placing rule was my fav

in my opinion.. if it wasn't for phils SPOT ON comps this forum would be long gone.. effort and input second to none
